Google Panda Resource Center

Recommended Posts

Google Panda was first rolled out in February, 2011. Since then they have continued to roll out updated versions of the algorithm. The last one seems to have been updated on July 25th, 2012.

There is a lot of discussion about this algorithm and many website owners are still trying to figure out what to do to get back their traffic.

I am setting up this thread so that we can start collecting and posting links to articles and blog posts that can help people to figure out a way to get out of their situation with Google. When you find a GREAT article, please post it. I will collect the links and keep them in this "pinned" post so that when a person lands in this thread they can easily click on the links that leads them to the article.

You will find a similar thread that is named Google Penguin Resource Center. Visit that thread for all things related to the Penguin update.

I've come across this one post which is awesome. It was written in July, 2011, but seems to still be relevant to today's Panda updates.

The purpose of the update was to devalue sites with little content or a lot of advertising. As a result, many sites dropped in ranking and experienced drop in traffic. There were several Panda updates since then.

The main thing about Panda is that you can see the problems when you look at the page. What we are trying to do is find those pages quickly to look at them and improve.

Did you feel it yesterday? Some did, a slight shaking in the Google results. Yes, it was real. Google’s confirmed to us that a Panda Update happened yesterday.

Google said that worldwide, the update will impact about 0.4% of queries that a regular user might notice. For those searching in the United States in English, the percentage is higher. 1.1%, Google says.

This marks the 21st confirmed Panda Update by Google and stays in keeping with the roughly 4-6 week release schedule.

All signs are pointing to a Google update being pushed out yesterday afternoon into today. The speculation across the SEO forums is that this is the Panda refresh we were expecting to see this weekend.

Google's Matt Cutts said we should expect to see a refresh of Panda sometime this Friday or Monday. It seems like the Panda update started actually yesterday afternoon and is continuing to propagate throughout now.

From Barry Schwartz:

I noticed a possible Panda update was rolling out, one that seemed to be “softer” in nature than the previous updates, where many webmasters who were originally hit by the algorithm are now claiming recovery.

Google has confirmed a Panda update is rolling out and this specific update is “more finely targeted.”
