Is LinkedIn efficacious in acting as a social media site? If so what are your experiences over there? Nowadays I can see information about linkedin all over the place on the Net. I have an account with them though.

Should you host if your main site is a blog?

Recently in these forums I entered into a discussion about hosting a blog. I found that there was an opinion about the advantages of hosting a main site. Do you feel that it would make a difference if you host your main site it is a blog? What difference it makes? I feel it makes no difference at all as long as I stick to SEO basics. It is the SEO that matters the most and not the hosting? Am I wrong?

I´m looking for an encryption software

Hi,

there are some files I want to save and protect. I´d like to save them in CD-ROMs (or USB sticks) but I want to encrypt them too, in case someone else find one of the CDs.

Could someone please recommend me a software to do that. I mean a software that allows me to encrypt the files and put a password on them to decrypt them later?

Thank you. Greetings,

Sign up bonus - good or bad?

Is granting of sign up bonus a good or a bad marketing strategy? I refer to a good number of companies online that give away sign up bonuses simply for joining them. And the result is a site called cashcrate.com that runs a program in which companies pay the new members by way of sigh up bonuses.

When you are doing your link building,
do you keep any records or stats on
-your success rate,
-new opportunities found,
-who you contacted/submitted to,
-if you tried again,
-those who said not interested,
-a record of your successful link submissions

and then figure out the cost of getting your links?

This would be useful don't you think? That way your aren't waiting time and money spinning your wheels trying to get links in the wrong places.
It is a great way to keep informed, while getting your own work done at the same time. I thought I would highlight a few of my favorites and hopefully everyone can share others that they enjoy as well.

How Do You Find High-quality SEO Services?

Finding quality search engine optimization services is truly hard to do. You see ads in forums for cheap SEO services but are they truly a high quality service doing this cheap to establish themselves in the market and build up a client list or are they low quality?

Quote

If you were tasked with finding a high-quality search engine optimization (SEO) partner, either consultant, agency, contractor, or some mix thereof, where would you start? Finding SEO services that 1) don't suck, and 2) don't put your job (because of a poor decision) or your site (because of risky tactics) in jeopardy isn't a trivial exercise.

Beyond these essentials, what about retaining SEO services that are truly a cut above the norm, that are performed by a savvy and high-quality partner that is someone you can trust?

How Do You Find High-quality SEO Services?

The article goes on to cover how to find a quality search engine optimization partner and the warning signs for those that are not.

Got anything to add?

How NOT to Promote Clickbank Products

Quote

OK, I admit I go on a total rant in this video about how NOT to promote Clickbank products — probably because it’s my own product, but also because this is a GREAT example of bottom-of-the-barrel affiliate marketing.

On another note – don’t tell me how great my instruction is and then produce something like shown in this video — this work is the antithesis of everything I teach about becoming a successful affiliate marketer.

Something new for those of you who use Blogger:

Quote

Just in time for our eleventh birthday, we are excited to introduce Stats for Blogger. First launched to Blogger in Draft back in July, Blogger Stats is a cool real-time stats service that's fully integrated with Blogger; you don't need to do anything to enable it for your blog. You can find the new Stats tab on your blog’s dashboard—go ahead and take it for a spin!

Blogger Buzz: Introducing Blogger Stats (Official Blogger Blog)

Anyone checked it out yet?

I had a look at mine. It shows:
-Page views (Audience)
-Page views by browser type
-Page views by operating system
-Page views by country
-Traffic sources
-Referring urls
-Referring sites
-Search keywords

Currently it is showing these stats as of July 2010.

Do you think this will be useful? or just a repeat of the information you can get from Webmaster Tools and Google Analytics?
